 "wonderful coffee, the best, easy on the stomach" 2010-05-28

It is not have a bitter taste as a few have suggested. I always use a melitta cup for making any espresso coffee and this one is just delicious. I checked my ph strip and it does not register as acid. It doesn't bother my stomach at all and I am super sensitive to anything acid. American coffee I have a hard time tolerating; the Italian and Kenya coffees that are dark roast espresso are thought by some people via their processing techniques and quality to be alkaline. It makes the American coffee look like junk for how the body responds and the taste. Once you have had this coffee you won't want American coffee anymore.



In case anyone is wondering what a melitta cup is, it is a cone made from plastic or ceramic (mine is ceramic) and it has a hole at the bottom. I adjust the coffee filter to fit it and then put the espress coffee in it and then pour my hot water from the tea kettle into it. I add a little nut milk into the coffee and I am ready to enjoy a wonderful taste. It beats dealing with a coffee maker any day. Each person in the family can have their own melitta cup as it is so quick to do.

I received my order of four (4) packs of this coffee yesterday and today, upon opening the bricks that were shrink-wrapped together, I noticed that one of the individual packages was clearly not vacuum sealed. Sure enough, at the bottom of the package, I could see a slice from what was most likely a straight razor used to open a box. Hmm...out with that package. (I should add that the shipping box was was in perfect condition.)



Understandably, this type of thing can happen with packaging / stocking. Still, I'm a little disappointed that on my first order, only 3 out of 4 packages are any good.

We just got this yesterday and had some this morning. It is probably one of the best coffees I have ever tasted! It is perfectly balanced with a nice round taste and feel that is full bodied. No acidity at all, just creamy goodness. There is a wonderful taste nuance involved that is characteristic of a fine wine. I can not believe the price for this! I spent for 2 pounds less than what I have paid for 1 pound of other coffees and enjoyed this every bit as much or more. A definite keeper for my morning java.

Although I am a fan of Lavazza espresso, I found this blend extremely harsh with very high acidity which wreaked havoc with my stomach. I am stuck with 9 bricks now (bought a case) and will have to find someone who really likes this blend.

I brew this fantastic blend with my Senseo using the "coffee duck". It's great because I can use whatever coffee I want. This coffee is amazing and my mornings would be lost without it! A smooth and rich, bold taste that is reminiscent of European cafes. I have tried many brand and have found Lavazza to offer a nice variety of coffees. If the flavor is too bold, you can make a cafe Americano. If you like it strong you can make it an espresso. A versatile blend that you will be sure to enjoy! BRAVO LAVAZZA!!

I am trying many different types of coffee, and I don't particularly enjoy this type. Some people might but not me. It has a sour taste if you drink it black which is not too pleasant. The beans give off a roasted almost burnt peanut smell. The grind is very dry looking.

When I took the advice of reading the packaging I made milk based coffees. Its a much different coffee then. There is still the sour initial taste, but the after taste is very sweet and caramely.

If you want a really dark deep southern italian espresso this is not the beans for you. This is a northern Italian espresso that is typical of what you get in Roma or Milano. The bags from Amazon come reasonably fresh and the free delivery is hard to beat. The coffee is consistent batch to batch, a 25 second extraction gives a reliable italian style espresso with a good machine. I use an exobar office lever with a mazzer mini mill and go through about 5 lbs a month. Kids and wife love it. I like it for mass market. PEET's espresso is better if you want a darker/stronger espresso, but commercially this is the best I have found

If you're used to drinking coffee from beans that are somewhat freshly ground, then the coffee made from these pods will taste stale and flat to you. Also, the "crema" is beyond real creme--it's more foamy, and we don't enjoy it. After trying some gourmet pods that are marginally better, we've now ordered the refillable Ecopods so we can try using fresh coffee in the machine. We hope this works or its back to our expensive coffeehouse habit (double americano in a very small cup, please) for a while.

I find most of the Senseo coffee products to be tasteless, maybe watered down, but not full-bodied or delicious. I have tried several different Senseo varieties, but none are noteworthy and I wouldn't recommend any of them. I am going to try other pod brands.

I just got my Grindmaster and ordered some Senseo coffees.

I've only tried the medium blend and the decaf. I absolutely loved

the medium blend. The decaf was sort of ok. I wish there were more

variety of decaf to choose from.

I have a Gaggia espresso machine. These pods are too big for this machine. I have used many many different brands of pods with this machine and this is THE ONLY brand that is too big. Not returnable, so I just wasted my money on useless oversized pods. I can't tell you how it tastes , but did not get a box labled breakfast blend, got one labeld 100% arabica. It smells good...

The good: decent, inexpensive coffee in pod form. Makes a strong enough 8oz cup, weak 12oz. Good packaging, was shipped quickly, lots of flexibility in the autoship program.

The bad: cost went up 40% after the sale stopped and new pricing was put in place. Normal shipping is high as a percentage of product cost (it is a big box though).



The result: I'm happy with my original purchase. Amazon and/or Timothy's seems to rotate different products through sales, so maybe one of the other flavors will be on special if this one isn't. Also, the subscription plan is definitely the way to go - save on the first item's cost and the shipping. I set mine for six months between autoships (can ask for early shipment if you want, or to skip a shipment), and if I feel I want to stop, I can cancel it before the box goes out without penalty. Really a winning situation, and cheaper than local stores.



Recommendation: Try a two-pack of Timothy's on sale if you get a new maker, using an autoship subscription. You really have little to lose, and might be set for a source of pods for the life of your coffee maker.

I like the senseo cappuccino pods that go with my senseo coffee maker. It is a good way to enjoy a cappuccino without having to go out to purchase a cup. I recommend this coffee if you want a pleasing cup of coffee but it is not strong starbucks type coffee. It is more mild but still very good.
